Snus News June 10, 2011

********        NO CATERER THIS FRIDAY, JUNE 10       ********
Special Birthday!!!
Guess who’s having a big birthday!!??  Gary Spencer is one of our most favorite people and we want everyone to wish him a Happy Birthday this Friday evening, June 10th.
Grill ‘n’ Chill
Snus Hill will provide the music and the wine… you provide the grilling essentials and whatever you want to grill. There will be no catered food on Friday evening, June 10th. Practice your grilling techniques while it’s still early in summer. Dust off your grill and bring it to the winery. If the weather says, “No way!” then bring a picnic basket of goodies and enjoy it in the banquet room. The music is provided by Madrid’s own country duo, Billy Club. If you like Garth Brooks, you’ll love Billy Club. This duo is part of Clutterbilly Band.
A Different Kind of Fundraiser!
July 1st & 3rd,  3-6 p.m.  A fundraiser for Team Fuchsia Souls 3-Day 60 MIle Susan G.Komen walk will be held with a raffle for pedi/manicure, flowers, massage, Snus Hill baskets, and more. Place your bid on a silent auction for a High Trestle Trail watercolor print or one of two one-night stays at Two Bears Lodge B&B.  The print will be displayed at the winery end of June Raffle tickets are 1 for $1, 6 for $5, 12 for $10, and 20 for $15. Drawing at 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 3rd, and silent auction ends at 6:00 pm, too. Come help Tami and her team reach and exceed their goal for breast cancer care and honor someone you know affected. Remember…. it’s Team Fuchsia Souls who will be walking the 3-day 60 mile trek. Let’s give them the support to finish the challenge.
Father’s Day, June 19th
Most dads enjoy a good bottle of beer. If you’re a dad, have a dad or would like to be a dad…. we’ll have these specials only on Father’s Day…. Get any of the beers we have for $2 a bottle and Seyval for $9.95 per bottle. The El Dorado Band will entertain all dads (and non-dads!) with their many forms of roots music, including vintage blues, rockabilly, swing, and old country.
Specials
Chardonel, our dry, white wine is regularly $17 and is on sale during June for $9.95. This grape is a cross between Chardonnay and Seyval and is a cold-hardy varietal suitable for the upper Midwest. Barrel fermented, it has complex flavors. This delightful, light and crisp wine is reminiscent of a French Chardonnay from Burgundy.

TIDBITS:
Some wine terms are a bit different. For example, “Dumb” is a description of a young wine with undeveloped aromas and flavors. This name is used because it seems “unable to speak.”
“Backward” is a wine that has retained its youthful characteristics even after considerable aging. This may indicate the the wine will require much more aging to reach maturity.
“Chewy” is not about Star Wars, but wine that has an unusual thick texture that makes you feel like you should chew it before swallowing.  There are many other unusual terms used to describe wine, but the enjoyment of drinking a delicious glass with friends…. sometimes no special terms are necessary…. it’s priceless.
Come to the winery this weekend and say, “Thunder” to get 15% off any regular priced wine.
