TIDBITS
- Valentine’s Day is only celebrated in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, France, Australia and the U.K.
- Wearing a wedding ring on the fourth finger of the left hand goes back to ancient Egypt where it was thought that the vein of love in that finger was a direct link to the heart.
- Teachers receive the most Valentine cards, followed by children. Sweethearts come in fourth after wives.
- It wasn’t until 1537 that St. Valentine’s Day was declared an official holiday. England’s King Henry VIII declared February 14th a holiday. Interesting that King Henry had six wives: one died, one survived, two divorced, and two executed. Hmmm….. and which one was his Valentine?
No executions at Snus Hill but you are welcome to bring your Valentine to the party or a visit any time we’re open (Wednesday – Sunday, 10 am – 6:00 pm).
